6 Retail Trends to Watch in 2011

Entrepreneur’s Daily Dose blog has a list of 6 retail trends for 2011.  The trends are:

1. Global Retailing
2. Going Green
3. Going Mobile
4. Local Relevance
5. Social Networking
6. Shrinking Assortments

That both global and local made the list caught my eye.  It seems a bit of a paradox, but I agree that retailing – and business in general – is increasingly global and local.  I also like their description of the local relevance trend:

“If you’re not expanding worldwide, you’d better be tightly focused on meeting the specific needs of customers in your local market. It’s the edge independents can use against larger chains.”
