Evernote, The Cloud and Mobile Work
Evernote is a great example of how cloud computing is enabling distributed and mobile work. For those not familiar with Evernote, it’s an online service that allows users to record and store pretty much anything digital as “notes.”
Because these notes are stored in the cloud, you can access them anywhere from pretty much any computing device.
I use Evernote almost every day. A big part of my job is reading and reviewing a wide range of online information. I use Evernote to store, organize, access, annotate and share news stories, studies, videos and other sources of data and information. Basically, it’s my research database.
Evernote has made it much easier for me to “travel with my office.” I’m traveling as I write this (I’m in a coffee shop). Because of Evernote, my research database is available to me anywhere I can connect to the Internet.
I use Evernote’s free service, which makes it even better.
In case you’re wondering, we don’t have a business relationship with Evernote (our disclosure policy requires us to disclose business relationships). And as far as I know, we’ve never talked to or met anyone from the company.
I’m just a happy, mobile customer.
